Turmeric, taken orally or topically can help kill acne causing bacteria, thanks to it’s antimicrobial and antiseptic components.  Overactive sebaceous glands are a common cause of excessively oily skin, which in many cases is what leads to acne and other skin conditions.  The fatty acids and phytosterols in turmeric are what reduces the excess oil, helping keep the skin clean and clear. Turmeric is also free of the typical side effects a lot of prescribed and over-the-counter acne medications have, such as dryness and irritation..and it’s a lot cheaper too!

A major cause of premature aging is exposure to the sun’s powerful UV rays, which can cause fine lines and wrinkles to develop, discoloration reduce skin elasticity.  Aging early on is caused by the overexposure of free radicals and chronic inflammation, but curcumin’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties help counteract those issues.

#3- Turmeric fights inflammation and other skin conditions.
As a natural anti-inflammatory, turmeric can help relieve signs of inflammation, such as redness and swelling.  It also is widely used as a natural remedy for other skin conditions, such as psoriasis, eczema and rosacea, as it has shown to be effective in soothing and calming the symptoms.  It’s also known to reduce inflammation inside the body and studies have proved it is more effective than many over-the-counter drugs, such as ibuprofen and prescription drugs; without the side effects.

#4- Turmeric helps minimize hyperpigmentation and even skin tone.
Curcumin has skin lightening properties that help to diminish dark spots over time.  As a pigmentation inhibitor in the skin, it is effective for sun spots, melasma and pigmented scarring.  This takes time depending on your own unique skin, so remember to be patient!
