Happy Don’t Fry Day!
The National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention has declared the Friday before Memorial Day as Don’t Fry Day, in efforts to encourage sun safety awareness and to remind everyone to protect their skin while enjoying the outdoors. ☀️
In honor of Don’t Fry Day, we want to kick off with a special feature on one of our favorite brands, Suntegrity Skincare!
Why do we love Suntegrity? Not only are Suntegrity sunscreens effective, safe and nontoxic, they also double up as beauty products! If you have been following along with us, then you know how obsessed we are with multi-use products. We are all about getting the most bang for our buck and Suntegrity doesn’t disappoint! They have developed products that not only protect our skin against harmful sun damage, but products that nourish our skin, moisturize our skin, help improve skin issues such as hyperpigmentation, acne, inflammation and rosacea AND products that prime our skin for makeup application and cover up blemishes…and the best part? It’s all done with clean, safe, nontoxic ingredients. ✔️???
Another reason Suntegrity is so near and dear to our heart is the story behind it. Tricia Trimble is the beauty & brains behind Suntegrity, which she created in memory of her mom and all of those who lost their lives to skin cancer. After losing her mother to melanoma, she decided to use her mom’s experience as a positive catalyst for change. She was on a mission to help others avoid getting skin cancer, but she was disappointed to learn that most sunscreens available to us are made with chemical UV blockers that contain toxic ingredients that can cause other types of illnesses; It didn’t make sense to use these types of sunscreens to prevent skin cancer only to get another kind of cancer. After years of investigating and researching, she decided to launch a holistic mineral suncare line, and with the help of an extremely knowledgeable formulator and chemist, Suntegrity Suncare was born.

We recently caught up with Tricia and she was kinda enough to answer some questions to help us learn more about the importance of safe sunscreen!
Many sunscreens on the market have harmful chemicals in their formulas, such as octinoxate or oxybenzone. Suntegrity products are made with a safe sun protecting ingredient called zinc oxide (non-nano). What exactly is zinc oxide and how does it differ from some of the toxic ingredients commonly found in most sunscreens?
“Zinc oxide is a natural zinc metal that has been oxidized. In addition to being a great sunscreen, zinc oxide has been used as an effective skin healing agent in diaper rash creams, acne treatments and rosacea formulas. Zinc oxide is the only approved active sunscreen ingredient that can be used by itself and provide full UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum protection. It works by instantly reflecting and scattering light unlike chemical sunscreens which absorb the UVA/UVB radiation through their chemical bonds. As the bonds absorb UV radiation, the sunscreen breaks down and releases heat. Chemical sunscreens have been found to penetrate into the blood stream within a day. Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, in particular, can disrupt the endocrine system by mimicking hormones. They are linked to causing endometriosis and reproductive harm as well as contributing to infertility in men and early puberty in girls. We use uncoated, non-nano zinc oxide as a healthy alternative to these chemical sunscreens.”
Other than formulating products with safe and nourishing ingredients, how is Suntegrity different that other sunscreen brands on the market?
“Not only are our products safe and nourishing, but they are also multi-tasking and beauty boosting (ie. they double as skincare/makeup). Our goal is to make sunscreens that smell good, feel good and make your skin look good, so that you’ll want to wear them as part of your daily routine.”
How would you describe the importance of wearing sunscreen to a child?
“I would describe sunscreen like a clear bandaid that you put all over your skin to protect it from the sun’s heat. Just like firefighters wear protective clothing all over their body to protect them from the heat of the fire, you also need to wear a protectant for your skin so you don’t get burned by the sun.”
What is the most surprising place that sun damage happens, that most people don’t realize?
“I think the most surprising place that sun damage happens is through the windows on an airplane. You’re nearly six miles closer to the sun in a plane than if you were on the ground. The standard airplane window protects against UVB, but not UVA rays that cause premature aging and skin cancer. Be sure to wear sunscreen when you are on a plane and shut the window screen during the majority of the flight. Additionally, most people don’t think to wear sunscreen on a cloudy day, but you can still be exposed to UV rays even when the sun isn’t in sight. Up to 80% of the sun’s UV rays can penetrate through clouds and cause damage to your skin, so be sure to wear your sunscreen daily.”
What advice do you have for someone who is new to the clean beauty scene?
“Instead of spending a fortune to replace everything at once, just start out slowly by replacing the products you run out of one by one and before you know it, you’ll have a bathroom full of clean beauty products.”
What can we look forward to next from Suntegrity?
“We are super excited about a sunscreen lipgloss that we currently have in development.”
We think it’s safe to say that her mother would be extremely proud of this beautiful brand that Tricia has created for all of us.

Please remember to ALWAYS wear sunscreen, not only in the summer, but all year round. Wear it on cloudy days, rainy days, cold days, hot days, sunny days. Wear it while you’re driving, while your flying, while you’re sitting in your office close to a window. Even if you’re outside for 10 minutes, don’t forget to take 2 seconds to put sunscreen on.
Enjoy your SUMMER!!!
